Am I too old to start martial arts at 40?No, you are not too old to begin martial arts training. At Kaizen Academy, we welcome students of all ages, from children to adults in their 50s and beyond. Our classes are designed to be practical and effective, accommodating all ages and fitness levels.

How much time do I need to devote to martial arts classes if I have a busy schedule?We recommend attending two 1-hour classes per week and practicing at home. For those with busy schedules, we also offer 30-minute private lessons to help you progress and hone your skills. Our flexible timetable allows you to find classes that fit your schedule.

What should I consider when choosing a martial arts academy?When choosing a martial arts academy, consider the qualifications and experience of the instructors, the styles of martial arts offered (such as Shotokan Karate, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai), the class schedule, and the community atmosphere. What is the difference between Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan Karate?Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that focuses primarily on kicking techniques, with some schools also teaching Olympic-style fighting. Shotokan Karate, on the other hand, is a traditional Japanese martial art that emphasizes powerful linear techniques, including punches, kicks, and blocks. Do I have to register my hands when I become a black belt?No, that is an urban myth. Martial Artists are not required to register their hands.

Do I have to be in good shape before I start?No, you will get into shape as you train. We have a series of exercises that you will learn as you progress through the ranking system which will enable you to perform the self defense techniques.
